Classes are cumulative, knowledge builds week to week. Students will be moved to the group salsa series program that best fits their skillset and level at the discretion of our instructors.
Block Duration: 8 weeks.
Curriculum Expectation: Upon completion Instructor Approval to advance to Salsa Starter.
Requirements: No previous salsa dancing necessary. Focuses on the fundamentals of salsa, including the three basic salsa on-1 steps, adds the right and left hand turns along with the Cross Body Lead. Emphasis placed on footwork, timing, and connection. Bring comfy shoes, water, and your willingness to learn in a supportive, friendly group environment. The TLOS Salsa Beginner (Level 0) has been constructed to enable dancers to build on a platform that fosters a good grasp of the fundamentals that are the building blocks for advancement.

Curriculum Expectation: Completion of two to three times the 8-week blocks for a minimum of 24 weeks in Salsa Starter. Upon completion of the 24 weeks, Instructor Approval to advance to Salsa Developer.
Requirements: Completed TLOS Salsa Beginner. Emphasis placed on timing and musicality. Progressive partner dancing will be introduced including: Opposing turns, Cross Body Lead inside turns, and Hammerlocks. Dancers are encouraged to build their own patterns. The TLOS Salsa Starter (Level 1) has been constructed to enable dancers to build on a platform that fosters a good grasp of the fundamentals that are the building blocks for advancement.
Block Duration: 8 weeks
Curriculum Expectation: Completion of three to four times the 8-week blocks for a minimum of 6 months in Salsa Developer. Upon completion of the 6 months, Instructor Approval to advance to Salsa Developer.
Requirements: Completed TLOS Salsa Starter. Builds on the curriculum covered in Salsa Starter and introduces varying lead and follow techniques, introduction to the Copa, hammerlock variations and wraps, titanic, grapevines to open chest moves. Further development of salsa proficiency to enjoy dancing in varied dance environments. The TLOS Salsa Developer (Level 2) has been constructed to enable dancers to build on a platform that fosters a good grasp of the fundamentals that are the building blocks for advancement.
Running in 8 week blocks ongoing and progressive, until proficiency is achieved to advance into Salsa Experienced.
Enrollment: Proficiency in TLOS Salsa Developer plus TLOS instructor invitation to TLOS Salsa Intermediate Level.
Learning environment encourages dancers to expand their Salsa-on-1 foundations, techniques and footwork. The goal is partner connections and communication in dancing. Dancers are encouraged to experiment and build their own patterns. The TLOS Starter Intermediate (Level 3) has been constructed to enable dancers to build on a platform that fosters a good grasp of the fundamentals that are the building blocks for advancement.
Running in 8 week blocks ongoing and progressive.
Enrollment: This is TLOS high Intermediate to Advanced program. Proficiency in Salsa Intermediate plus TLOS instructor invitation or evaluation to TLOS Salsa Experience Level.
Introduces dancers to various combinations in readiness for social dance scene, helps to solidify and build dance repertoire. Program covers a variety of techniques and patterns encountered at nightclub and social dance venues. TLOS Salsa Experienced curriculum has been constructed to enable dancers to build on a platform that fosters a good grasp of the fundamentals that are the building blocks for advancement.
Non-TLOS Dancers require strong 3.5 years+ of Salsa Dancing plus evaluation by Kurt.
Our ultimate TLOS Salsa Experience; the goal is mastery while encouraging dancers to enhance connection, musicality & styling in L.A. style On1, through experimentation and creativity beyond learning by patterns.
